I'm a bit emotional today as I lay here at 6 am and look at my sweet baby boy who is officially the  big 1 year old.  This time last year was the happiest and scariest day of. my. life.   You were brought into this world early and your little body just wasn't ready for it.  I remember being so scared and feeling so helpless in an already overly emotional state.  You were whisked away from me before I even had the chance the to hold you.  

You were...

-placed in an incubator within 24 hours

-had a chest tube inserted into your lungs when you were 2 days old

-were fed intravenously (had iv's and wires covering your little body)

-were place in a calm 2 day environment with light noise and little touching

-you were a fighter 

When I tell people about your rough start they are in shock as they look at you now.  

You are my little champ, my whole world and have hung the stars and the moon in our book and you continue to expand our hearts every day with your little personality.  You are loving, hilarious, healthy, happy and just plain perfect.  You give open mouth kisses and bite down with your 4 little teeth.  You give high fives and shake your head no at everything, even if you mean yes.  You dance and clap and rock back and forth.  You laugh, you giggle and like to put on a show.  Still crawling but cruising on all furniture.  You love to be in your wagon and be where all the action is.  You had your 1st visit to the ER... You were strapped in your BOB and it went rolling off the porch and flipped over, you hit your head so hard and I totally freaked out.  All was fine and your a tough little cookie but it was probably the 2nd scariest day of my life! You're a rough boy so I know you will have many more bumps, bruises and falls but for now let's stay out to the ER.  You love to throw balls and make loud noises with the cabinets, toys and pans.  You copy us and hold the phone to your ear.  You love to share and say "dane doo" aka thank you.  You don't quite understand sweet hands, gentle or the word "no" so we are working on that.  I got to spend my first birthday as a mother on Sept 29, Birthdays are much more meaningful now that you are in my life! Best birthday ever! You are so incredibly amazing I could go on for days but I will end this with thanking you.  Thank you for making this past year the most memorable, amazing, loving and adventurous year of our lives.  It brings me tears of joy to think of all the fun things ahead of you in your adventurous and exciting life and we can't wait to watch you grow!

mama & dada:  love to play, clap, act silly, do anything (which isn't very hard) to get that gummy grin

Sweet baby H! That is exactly what you are....sweet and completely edible!  You really love those who are close to you and show it. I love how your shy with strangers but warm up so quickly and your new found wave is the cutest darn thing in the world! Used to be a flap but now it's a full on pageant wave that you will give after about 5 seconds of meeting someone new!  You get excited when mama, dada or lo lo walks into the room and it's the best feeling in the world when I come home from work and you are ecstatic to see me.  hate to say it but your a momma's boy!  I can't turn away from you to even put away a piece of laundry without you freaking out.  You hate when someone is looking at you and you will turn your head so you are in front of their face to get their attention.  You are funny.  Dr. j thinks your a riot and is also so impressed with your growth and health! You are perfect and healthy as can be, still growing off the charts but have slowed down a bit.  You got a finger prick and didn't even flinch however wasn't a fan of your shot :(  You are still going to be our football player.  I've yet to met anyone who doesn't say "wow, he's a healthy one" when they ask your age. We love it and boy do we love you, all 25 lbs of you.  You love to read and will sit for hours and hours listening to "brown bear brown bear."  We are attendin gymboree every week and you are the biggest ham, the second we can walk in miss molly or miss caitlin love to see you in their class.  You love bubbles and get super excited when they come out.  Still no teeth but your smile is so big you showcase the cutest gums, scrunch your nose and breathe in and out loud enough to make you laugh.  You will start a game of peek a boo with anyone and anything, even lo lo's dog bryant!  Bryant, your best fur friend and you have a mutual love for each other! You can grab pull and smack that dog and he won't budge and he just loves to lick your hands and face! When you eat your meals it's impossible to feed you because you are slouched over just making sure the dogs are still there.  You can't feed yourself real great but that may be another reason why you are the dogs best friend right now, they have a new found love for puffs. You love puffs, yogurt melts, banana, watermelon.  Dr. J said to bring on the other solids and get you off of baby food so get ready for some fun.  You are rolling eveyrwhere and my next post will be how you crawled on the day your turned 9 months! You've been rocking for a few weeks now but bam... now you're crawling. You are so proud of yourself and show it.  Still not the best self soother but the second we faturn you towards the window and start rocking you fall fast asleep. You HATE your CRIB.  We moved into a new house the beginning of july and it's so close to the bay, we walk to the park and the pier almost every day and you love being outside.  We put you in a swing for the 1st time, pics are priceless to say the least.  You are enthralled with watching the seagulls over the water.  You love going to the pool, heck you love going anywhere!

This has been such a huge month for you and I know I'm probably forgetting almost half of the things you did but it's been an amazing one. You're so much fun and I feel my love for you growing stronger by the millisecond if it's even possible to love you anymore than I do. I was in the grocery store after work one day and saw a little baby boy with his mama and couldn't wait to get the heck out of there so I could rush home to see your little face.

Elizabeth Anne Borgia, Born 05.07.10 at 7:09pm weighing 8 lbs and measuring 20.5 inches long!

Suzanne and I met our first day at Pi Beta Phi in 1999, became the best of friends instantly and have remained that way since... were in each others weddings and now I feel honored to have been there for the birth of her first beautiful baby Elsie. Looking forward to many more of these memories in the future! So happy for the new Borgia family of 3!
